Cortland Apples
$2.00 – $8.00
A true American classic. Developed by the New York State Agricultural Experiment Station in Geneva New York, released in 1898. A cross of “Macintosh” & “Ben Davis”, sweeter, firmer and better keeper than the parent. Also, resistant to browning, a huge advantage in the early 20th century. This was then developed with the help of Waldorf Hotel funds, as an ingredient for the “Waldorf Salad”
These apples are bright red with a crisp white flesh. They are incredibly juicy and contain a sweet-tart flavor.
