The Seckel Pear is a diminutive (small) pear that originated in an orchard near Philadelphia in the mid 1700’s and became the mother of the Magness pear. These pears are grown in Adams County.
They are fragrant and sweet, with an enjoyable and slightly spicy flavor profile. This pear is a multi-use pear in that it is great for eating out of hand, seasonal fruit baskets, or for poaching and cooking.
